David Osterlund’s Woodcarving Gallery

David joined SCVC in 2002 and has been carving with us every week. We are glad to share his diverse woodcarving gallery.

David carved a 9″ (23 cm) tall fisherman from basswood. The fish was carved separately and glued to the body. This project shows David’s attention to detail and skill with the medium.

David’s whittling projects always draw a crowd at our public events; kids and adults alike marvel at the intricate chains he carved from a single block of wood.

Classic whittling projects: wooden chains, ball-in-cage projects, and a working folding pocket knife. They are carved from basswood and pine. Shared in David's woodcarving gallery.

Congratulations to David for earning a Best of Show award at the Tri-Valley Carvers Woodcarving Show with his stunning Grape Leaf Love Spoon in 2025.

David carved an intricate spoon from butternut, once again proving his ability to craft beautiful and delicate items. It is ~12” long. Summer 2025
